Steven Chinn, DPM, is a Partner in Clinical Transformation at Chartis. Steve has over 30 years of healthcare management consulting experience advising hospitals, community health centers, ambulatory surgery centers. His work is concentrated on accreditation and regulatory compliance, patient safety, quality improvement, and high reliability practice. His expertise includes Joint Commission survey preparation and management, as well as improvement implementation and sustainability. Steve has spoken at numerous conferences and workshops on Joint Commission standards and topics, and for several years was a lead faculty for Joint Commission education programs. Steve has written articles and book chapters about healthcare accreditation and regulatory compliance and patient safety management  

Steve's recent engagements include resolving healthcare organizations that were about to lose their Joint Commission accreditation, reinstatement into compliance with Lanterman-Petris-Short regulations for accepting suicidal psychiatric patients and clearing a healthcare organization from being decertified from Medicare program. Steve also conducts baseline assessments and mock surveys for Joint Commission accreditation and CMS Medicare certification for academic medical centers, community and government hospitals, Federally Qualified Health Centers, and ambulatory surgery centers.  

Steve is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, National Association of Healthcare Quality and Association of Occupational Health Professionals.

Steve received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery and Master of Podiatric Surgical Education from Samuel Merritt University/California College of Podiatric Medicine.   Steve also received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.  Steve is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executive (FACHE), a certified as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), a Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) and a Certified Joint Commission Professional (CJCP).
