Dave Nelson is a Partner at HealthScape Advisors, a Chartis Company. Dave advises health service and technology-enabled companies on the latest market trends, delivery models, and emerging alternative payment models. In addition, Dave also works with provider and payer start-ups, designing operating models, constructing capital raises, building management teams, and creating differentiating products and services.  

Prior to joining HealthScape Advisors, Dave served as a Senior Advisor and Subject Matter Expert on Provider delivery and Payer new business ventures while serving as president and CEO of Inovacus, LLC. Additionally, Dave formed two major joint ventures: Veterans Accountable Care Organization (VACO) (2017 –2019) and Intrepid Health Alliance (IHA) (2018 –2019), which pursued the multi-billion-dollar Community Care Network (CCN) regional contracts with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA).

Prior to his work with Inovacus, Dave co-founded xGHealth Solutions, formed to deliver Geisinger’s expertise in primary care transformation and population health analytics to organizations nationwide, under its Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model of care. While at xG Dave hired and managed an advisory staff providing education and subsequent adoption of Alternative Payment Models by regional health systems. Dave has also served as VP of Federal Markets at OptumHealth, Chairman and CEO of Calvert Health Partners, a post-acute care delivery entity, and President and COO of Sierra Military Health Services, a 13-state regional TRICARE start-up health plan, ensuring coverage for 1.2M lives with the establishment of a provider and facility delivery system of over 55,000 providers (of all specialties) and over 450 facilities. Prior to entering the private sector, Dave served in the U.S. Navy, Medical Service Corps, working in CONUS military treatment facilities, recruiting healthcare professionals into the Navy Medical Department and managing medical research units located in high threat environments throughout the world.

Dave received his Master of Arts in Hospital and Health Administration from The University of Iowa and Bachelor of Science in Hospital and Health Services Administration from Quinnipiac University. He served on Quinnipiac University’s (QU) Board of Trustees for 18 years, most recently as Vice-Chairman, and has been designated a QU Trustee Emeritus. Dave remains an active member of the University’s Investment Committee.
