Benjamin Kodish is a Partner in Financial Transformation. Ben's career in healthcare spans over 21 years, 19 of which have been focused on revenue cycle consulting. During his career, Ben has worked in a wide array of settings that include large academic facilities, multi-hospital systems, large physician networks, small community hospitals and behavioral health networks. He specializes in leading revenue cycle transformation engagements through process improvement and technology optimization focused on patient access, denials management and patient financial services. Through his strong industry knowledge and collaborative approach, Ben has assisted numerous clients with achieving sustainable and favorable financial results.
Recently, Ben led a revenue cycle transformation engagement for a large academic medical center. This initiative was focused on restructuring and redesigning all the workflows associated with billing, insurance collections and cash posting. Additionally, Ben oversaw the implementation of a denials management program focused on root cause analysis and denial prevention. Finally, Ben oversaw a provider group optimization program for a predominately outsourced revenue cycle, through the implementation of vendor management strategies that focused on accountability and outcomes.
Additionally, Ben also led a four-year revenue cycle engagement for a five-hospital health system focused on patient financial services and denials management improvements. He functioned as an interim Director of Patient Accounting during the initial two years of the engagement and assisted in stabilizing and achieving sustained favorable results for the struggling organization. He accomplished this through the implementation of a business office redesign and the establishment of a denials management program. These improvements were measured through strong cash collections (year-over-year), AR Day reductions, and significant reductions of aged receivables.
Prior to joining Chartis, Ben was a manager at RSM where he oversaw several revenue cycle engagements. Before joining RSM, Ben was a Director at FTI Consulting, where he successfully led and managed numerous revenue cycle engagements for a wide variety of healthcare organizations focused on both patient access and patient financial services operational improvements.
Ben received his Master in Public Health from Emory University and his Bachelor of Science in healthcare management from the University of Connecticut.
