Why healthcare?

Because healthcare is a worthy cause. Because it’s personal. Because it needs help. Because it inspires the best in us. There are many answers to this question that ring equally true. For me, what started as circumstance—Boston is a terrific nexus of healthcare and technology—has evolved into a deeper understanding of the workings and needs of the healthcare industry.

What inspires you?

Simply put: Mountains. As an avid hiker, I’ve always been fascinated by the White Mountains of New Hampshire. There’s a mix of challenge, solitude, and space that always seems to bring a degree of relativity to the world. A mountainous landscape provides a grounding counterpoint to the ever-changing, fast-moving world of technology, and never ceases to inject a good measure of humility into my life.

Do you have a motto or personal mantra?

Plant more trees. I find it important to remind myself to take actions—even little ones—that won’t pay dividends until twenty, forty, or even one hundred years later. We may not see the fruits of these actions, but the near-term change we perceive often starts from small steps set in motion years ago. So, I’ve committed to begin planting the seeds for those outcomes whenever possible, whether it’s tending to a relationship, supporting a cause, or learning a new skill. Planting that one acorn in the yard.
