David LaBine is Vice President of Software Engineering at Chartis, where he leads AI-driven product development and works alongside firm leadership to drive innovation across the enterprise. He helps Chartis and its clients design and deliver end-to-end transformation solutions that integrate data, analytics, and modern software engineering into scalable, market-ready products.
With more than 20 years of technology and engineering leadership experience, David specializes in building cloud-native platforms and applied artificial intelligence solutions in highly regulated environments. He has led large, multidisciplinary engineering organizations spanning machine learning, full-stack development, cloud infrastructure, and platform reliability, with a consistent focus on security, compliance, and operational excellence.
Prior to joining Chartis, David served as Vice President of Software Engineering within the Digital Innovation Group at Providence, one of the largest integrated health systems in the United States. There, he incubated and scaled multiple digital health businesses from concept through commercialization, including serving as interim CTO for venture-backed spinouts. These efforts resulted in a combined $40 million in Series A funding, growth to more than 1.6 million monthly active users, and over $100 million in incremental revenue.
David is a recognized leader in applied artificial intelligence, including the development and deployment of generative AI solutions at enterprise scale. His work includes establishing validation, safety testing, and monitoring frameworks for large language models operating in high-stakes environments, as well as delivering cloud-native infrastructure that meets stringent regulatory and security requirements.
Earlier in his career, David held senior engineering leadership roles in the education technology sector, where he helped create and scale SaaS platforms used in millions of classrooms worldwide. He has a proven track record of transforming organizations by aligning product strategy, data and analytics, and modern engineering practices to deliver measurable business impact.
David holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Alberta and has completed executive business training at the Haskayne School of Business.
