Tom O'Toole is a Partner in Strategic Transformation and works primarily with major private investment firms, physician groups, investor-backed healthcare companies, integrated delivery networks, and academic health systems. He specializes in transaction diligence and execution; enterprise strategic and growth planning; value-based care strategies; clinical, ambulatory network and service line strategy development; affiliations and partnerships; and economic model redesign. 

Tom leads the firm’s Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) efforts and has extensive experience working alongside ASC management companies, health systems, and PPMs in conducting complex diligence / transaction efforts, developing ASC strategies, and facilitating ASC partnerships. 

His engagements have primarily focused on transaction diligence, growth and go-to-market planning, new business line development, and portfolio company transformation on behalf of healthcare investors, portfolio companies, technology companies, health systems, and physician groups. Most recently, Tom led an engagement to facilitate a partnership and physician practice spinout between a private capital-backed PPM and a national health system. 

Tom also advises provider groups, health systems, and other enablement solutions in building value-based care businesses. He recently led an engagement to design a virtual chronic disease management solution for a risk-bearing specialty care provider.

Prior to joining Chartis, Tom worked at Stanford Health Care in Palo Alto, CA, where he oversaw a number of clinical performance improvement initiatives in the Department of Performance Excellence. 

Tom earned Master of Health Services Administration and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan.
