
Tom O’Toole is a Principal with Chartis. Since joining the firm, Tom has primarily worked with academic medical centers and integrated delivery networks on key strategic issues including enterprise strategic planning, clinical network strategy development, ambulatory network development, service-line strategy development, affiliations and partnerships, economic model redesign, physician compensation, and Department performance assessments.
His most recent engagement involved supporting the development of an enterprise strategic plan for a large academic medical center. Throughout the engagement, Tom worked alongside senior leaders from the health system, physician practice plan, and university school of medicine to develop the organization’s joint strategic vision, clinical and academic strategies, financial model, and strategy implementation plan. To support these enterprise-wide efforts, he managed a series of senior client physician and administrator-led strategy design workgroups and was responsible for analytics, strategy formulation, content creation, and meeting facilitation across the engagement.
Prior to joining Chartis, Tom worked at Stanford Health Care in Palo Alto, CA where he worked on a host of clinical performance improvement initiatives in the Department of Performance Excellence. He also worked as an intern at McLaren Health Care in Flint, MI on the development of treatment planning processes for the system’s Proton Beam Therapy Center.
Tom earned a Master of Health Services Administration (MHSA) from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan.
