Andy Chu

Senior Vice President, AI and Technology

Andy Chu is Senior Vice President of AI and Technology at Chartis, where he leads a multidisciplinary team of product managers, engineers, data scientists, and designers to build technology-forward solutions for health systems and payers. His work centers on applying the latest advances in AI, including large language models, to solve the operational, clinical, and patient engagement challenges facing healthcare organizations today.

Andy brings a rare combination of technical depth, product instinct, and real-world healthcare experience. He is drawn to healthcare precisely because of its complexity: the intersection of human connections, legacy infrastructure, regulatory requirements, and organizational scale demands the kind of rigorous, cross-functional and systems thinking he has practiced throughout his entire career. He joined Chartis to bring that breadth and depth to healthcare's most urgent challenges.

Before joining Chartis, Andy served as Chief Product and Technology Officer at Providence Health's Digital Innovation Group, one of the nation's most recognized health technology incubators. He led a global team of 100 across product, engineering, UX, and data science, building a digital health platform that served 3.5 million patients. Under his leadership, the team deployed an enterprise-grade AI chatbot—built with rigorous compliance, privacy, and safety guardrails—that cut administrative message volume by 20% across more than 1,000 clinics and delivered $15M in financial benefit in a single year. In addition, a system-wide personalization platform he designed across seven states generated $28M in incremental financial benefit in 2024. He also built Praia Health from the ground up, taking it from concept to a $20M Series A and scaling it from 10,000 to 1.6 million monthly active users, doubling patient engagement in 18 months.

Prior to healthcare, Andy held senior leadership roles at Microsoft, Bold, and a number of high-growth technology companies, where he consistently delivered results at scale across regulated, complex, and fast-moving environments. That breadth, spanning large enterprises, nimble startups, and regulated industries, is what he now brings to bear on healthcare's hardest problems.

Andy holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia.
