David Stockwell, MD, is a Partner in Performance Transformation focused on the expansion of clinical quality and high reliability care.
He brings more than 25 years of healthcare experience to the firm and is a nationally recognized leader in quality and patient safety having held multiple national leadership roles at the American Board of Pediatrics, the Centers for Disease Control, Children’s Hospital Association, Leapfrog Group, the National Quality Forum, the Patient Safety Movement Foundation, Virtual PICU Systems, and Solutions for Patient Safety.
Prior to joining Chartis, David was Chief Medical Officer of Johns Hopkins Children’s Center and a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. He also served as the Chief Medical Officer at Pascal Metrics, Inc., a leader in Patient Safety. His focus there was on helping healthcare organizations implement adverse event trigger systems through electronic medical records.
Prior to Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, David was a leader in Patient Safety at Children’s National Medical Center in D.C., where he served as the Medical Unit Director of the PICU for a number of years. While there, he significantly impacted hospital-wide patient safety and practices at CNMC, holding roles such as Medical Director for Patient Safety, Executive Director of Improvement Science, and President of the Medical Staff.
David earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Kansas in 1990, followed by a graduate degree in Medicine from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and a Master’s in Business Administration from The George Washington University School of Business.
