Nate Akers is a Senior Partner at HealthScape Advisors, a Chartis company. Nate’s experience includes a combination of industry and advisory experience that brings together a unique perspective for his clients. In industry, he led the strategy, design, and build for network development, value-based care, and strategic initiatives across various market types and all lines of business (Commercial, MA, Medicaid, IFP/ACA). As a consulting leader, Nate has developed a broad, national perspective on health plan strategy that goes beyond his industry experience and into M&A, digital strategy, innovation, and disruption. ​

Nate has extensive experience with both FFS and value-based contracting and negotiations. This experience in value-based care includes developing the strategy and designing the programs but also launching new programs from operations to technology. Additionally, Nate has worked with payer and provider organizations to negotiate strategic risk and value-based contracts, JVs, and co-branded products. Finally, he brings deep knowledge and experience working with digital, disruptive, and non-traditional market entrants into healthcare to assist them with market entry, growth strategy, and enablement of their healthcare strategy. ​

Nate was previously Director and leader in the payer practice at Navigant/Guidehouse Consulting. Prior to this role, he was the Director for Enterprise Network Solutions – Value Based Strategy Team. He holds a Bachelor’s in Business and MIS from Carroll University, an MBA from DePaul University and several executive education certificates in Digital Transformation from Boston University. Nate also completed the Kellogg School of Business Chief Digital Officer Executive Program.
