As demand for acute care continued to grow, a health system in the Northeast sought ways to expand capacity without the cost and complexity of adding inpatient beds. Hospital at home emerged as a promising alternative. But before investing, leaders needed to understand its financial viability, operational requirements, risks, and long-term sustainability as a scalable enterprise strategy.
Co-creating the solution
The health system partnered with Chartis for a 4-week rapid assessment to determine whether hospital at home could deliver meaningful clinical and financial value across the health system’s five hospitals. Leveraging proprietary benchmarks and deep hospital at home expertise, Chartis projected impacts on capacity, financial performance, costs, and regulatory risk. The team also helped leaders evaluate the technology, staffing, and operational requirements; establish success criteria; and develop a scalable roadmap for enterprise-wide implementation.

Defined capability requirements and a clear path to financial sustainability give leaders the clarity needed to move forward despite evolving reimbursement and regulatory environments.
