Chartis, a comprehensive healthcare advisory firm, announced that Chris Carson recently joined the firm as a Principal in its Performance practice. He brings more than 25 years of management consulting, healthcare and physician leadership, and healthcare information technology experience.
Specializing in governance and physician alignment, operational and financial performance improvement, and effort allocation in support of organizational missions, Carson has led successful engagements at leading academic health systems, children’s hospitals, and integrated delivery systems.
“It’s a pleasure to welcome Chris to our Performance practice,” said Pam Damsky, Director and Performance Practice Co-Leader at Chartis. “Chris’ passion for helping organizations achieve transformational performance is matched by his keen ability to integrate strategy, operations, technology, and analytics for high-impact results.”
Prior to joining Chartis, Carson served for more than 12 years as a Managing Director for FTI Consulting. During his tenure, he served as the Interim Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for an academic health systems’ faculty practice plan, leading the development and implementation of a cash-based compensation plan while driving operational and financial performance improvement. He also served as the Interim CAO for an integrated delivery system focused on operational performance improvement and participated in the recruitment and onboarding of a Chief Medical Officer and permanent CAO for the medical group.
Carson also has served as the physician enterprise lead for Transition Systems Inc., the leader in decision support technology, later acquired by Eclipsys. In this role, he worked with leading academic and non-academic health systems around the country to leverage data to better understand the cost of care and reduce unnecessary variations.
Carson frequently speaks on issues related to physician alignment, performance improvement, and compensation. In 2022, he spoke at both the national and west regional Medical Group Management Association meetings. He holds a Master of Business Administration and his Bachelor of Health Services from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida.
