The vision
As the IT requirements of clinical research teams at a prominent southeastern academic medical center grew more complex, the chief technology officer aimed to tackle persistent inefficiencies, communication issues, and the inadequacy of a one-size-fits-all approach to IT support. They aspired to enhance alignment and strategically position the organization as an innovative leader.
Co-creating the solution
The health system partnered with Chartis to create a framework for systemic change. The team started by building trust with all stakeholders, opening the lines of communication, and listening to their input. Armed with feedback, they created a plan to optimize resources and streamline workflows. This included developing a central IT service catalogue, adapting IT workflows to prioritize time-sensitive clinical research needs, reaffirming existing plans for establishing a senior IT leadership role, and launching navigation services to foster ongoing communication between IT and the research community.
Believe in better
With a roadmap for success, the health system is now confident in its ability to leverage existing IT resources to maximize research dollars, prioritize ongoing clinical research needs, and enable a more efficient use of shared resources. Plans for addressing frustrating barriers are in place, allowing IT and clinical research teams to efficiently partner to advance cutting-edge clinical research.
