Chartis, a leading healthcare advisory firm, announced today that Steven Chinn, DPM has joined the firm as a Clinical Transformation Partner. He will continue to serve as a Clinical Associate Professor at Stanford School of Medicine, focused on patient safety, high reliability, and teamwork.
Chinn is a seasoned healthcare executive with more than 30 years of clinical, management, and consulting experience in acute and integrated delivery care, behavioral health, ambulatory, and technology settings.

Chinn is part of Chartis’ High Reliability Care practice that is committed to helping organizations identify quality and safety vulnerabilities and implement the systems and processes necessary to fix them. He will lead cross-functional engagements aimed at improving patient outcomes and quality ratings, reducing workforce burnout and health disparity and, ultimately, achieving financial savings for clients.
Before joining Chartis, Chinn was Stanford Health Care’s Accreditation and Regulatory Officer and oversaw the organization’s accreditation, regulatory, and licensure compliance programs. Chinn also has served as a Joint Commission surveyor and education faculty for the ambulatory, hospital, behavioral health care, and network programs, as well as a health plan/HMO evaluator for the California Department of Corporations.
Chinn has a Master of Podiatric Surgical Education and a Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from the California College of Podiatric Medicine. He also has an MBA from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Chinn is a Yellow Belt in Lean Methodology Robust Process Improvement and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
