Chartis Just Health Collective, a division of Chartis, a leading healthcare advisory and analytics firm, announced that they have partnered with Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) to lead cultural humility and implicit bias training for Conviva, Humana’s network of primary care providers in South Florida. The program will focus on behavior change in the clinical environment to accelerate health equity and improve the delivery and humanity of care.
“Humana’s efforts to accelerate health equity demonstrates that despite traditional dynamics between payer and provider, aligning on health equity is a universal goal that must span the entire healthcare ecosystem,” said Duane Reynolds, President of Chartis Just Health Collective. “This partnership will help clinicians unearth blind spots, and with that insight and awareness we’ll provide participants with strategies to mitigate bias and create more equitable care for members within Humana’s network.”
The pilot launched in August, with training programs this fall which will help providers define and understand cultural humility and implicit bias and how both relate to health equity and belonging. Providers will learn skills to recognize and mitigate bias, address power dynamics, and create institutional accountability. The training will be designed, curated, and led by Dr. Portia Newman, Chartis Just Health Collective’s Associate Vice President of Education and Engagement.
