
Summer Bryant is an Engagement Manager in Financial Transformation at Chartis. She brings over 4 years of healthcare consulting experience and over 23 years of clinical nursing and nursing leadership experience. She has led a variety of interprofessional teams to transform performance, reduce staff turnover, and deliver high quality care and patient service. Summer is adept at managing projects and people while building a cohesive, collaborative environment and developing peers and colleagues into leaders.
Prior to joining Chartis, Summer worked for the Berkeley Research Group as a Senior Managing Consultant. She served as the lead for several inpatient nursing workforce performance improvement initiatives including large academic medical centers, multi-hospital systems, and small, rural hospitals. While leading these initiatives, Summer served as a subject matter expert, assessed organizations for improvements in productivity and resource utilization, and coached and mentored leaders at all levels through the change management process. Before consulting, Summer excelled in a variety of nursing leadership roles at The University of Kansas Health System. She focused on maximizing staff performance and streamlining the delivery of patient care by effectively using resources. She was consistently recognized for top performance and selected for high-priority initiatives, taskforces and committees as well as interim nurse manager roles throughout the organization.
Summer is the Immediate Past President of the Board of Directors for the Academy of Medical Surgical Nurses (AMSN). She has served on AMSN’s Board of Directors for the past 9 years. She has published three peer reviewed research articles, been interviewed by several nursing publications, and been a featured guest on AMSN’s Medsurg Moments, Nurse Keith, and the BRG Nurse Executive Forum podcasts.
Summer received her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Organizational Leadership from The University of Kansas. In addition, she received a Master’s of Nursing in Organizational Leadership and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from The University of Kansas. Summer currently holds certifications in Executive Nursing Practice (CENP) and Medical-Surgical Nursing (CMSRN). She is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the Association of Nurse Leaders (AONL).
