
Dr. Joe Kerschner is a Senior Partner in Strategic Transformation at Chartis. He is a nationally recognized physician–executive and academic leader with more than 25 years of experience in clinical care, research, and medical education.
Joe has held numerous national leadership roles, including Chair of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Council of Deans and Chair of the AAMC Board of Directors. He has received multiple awards for administrative leadership, clinical excellence, and service to the community. His volunteer leadership includes serving on the boards of the Greater Milwaukee Urban League, Children’s Hospital and Health System, Inception Health, and the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee Foundation and Research Foundation. He has published more than 170 peer-reviewed articles, contributed to multiple book chapters and reviews, and presented extensively on clinical, research, and leadership topics.
Prior to joining Chartis, Joe spent 14 years as an executive leader at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). Over his tenure as Dean at the MCW’s School of Medicine, he oversaw one of the nation’s largest academic physician practices, a $350 million annual research enterprise, and spearheaded expanded integration with Froedtert Health and Children’s Wisconsin.
Joe attended the Medical College of Wisconsin, earning his MD in 1990. He completed his residency in otolaryngology at the University of South Florida and returned to MCW for fellowship training in pediatric otolaryngology at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
