David Sekar

Engagement Manager

David Sekar is an Engagement Manager in Financial Transformation. He has more than 10 years of experience advising health systems and physician practices. He specializes in large-scale, multi-year operational/financial transformations and strategic growth initiatives, with a concentration in pharmacy enterprise strategy and pharmacy revenue cycle (including 340B, infusion, ambulatory, retail and specialty, payer and PSAO, and GPO and wholesaler), corporate services, and pre and post-closing merger and acquisition planning and integration. His expertise includes financial and analytical data modeling and reporting; assessing and implementing organizational and workflow redesign; project and change management; and operational management.  

David’s recent projects include working as the engagement manager for a successful multi-site community oncology and infusion center acquisition for a large southeast region health system, with advisory resulting in a ~$100M annual net margin improvement. This engagement included valuations; market research; process and corporate services redesign; and business combination growth strategy development for the provider practice, infusion service line, and retail/specialty pharmacy businesses. David also led the pre-closing and post-acquisition integration project management office, along with collaborating with both clinical and non-clinical management from the health system, oncology practice, and outside counsel to capture value from the transaction and support a seamless transition.

Prior to joining Chartis, David was an Associate Director on the pharmacy and corporate services consulting teams at Guidehouse Consulting. As a pharmacy and corporate services subject matter expert, he was instrumental in the development and optimization of both teams’ assessment and implementation solutions. Before consulting David worked in various roles for BKD CPAs & Advisors, Healthcare Service Corporation, and Loyola University Medical Center.

David has regularly contributed to thought leadership in his field and recently presented at the Virginia-DC HFMA Fall 2023 Conference. In his presentation, Maintaining and Expanding a Patient-Centered 340B Program in the Face of Change, David relied on his extensive industry research and project experience to highlight strategies for financial growth and improved patient care in light of the rapidly changing 340B landscape. David is a member of the Healthcare Finance Management Association.

David received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Information Systems from Loyola University of Chicago.
