
Alexander Segal is an Associate Partner in Financial Transformation whose career in healthcare consulting spans 10 years with a focus on healthcare provider operations and prior to working in healthcare operations experience working with payer strategy and financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
While at Chartis, Alex has led a large M&A project with a focus on post-merger integration across multiple service lines inclusive of clinical access, labor, revenue cycle, perioperative, length of stay (LOS), and review of service line growth strategy; a fast-paced assessment reviewing both clinical and operations service lines inclusive of managed care, revenue cycle, market growth, and labor; and the project management (PMO) function across multiple projects.
Prior to joining Chartis, Alex was an Associate Director with Guidehouse (formerly Navigant) for four years working in the performance excellence practice with focus areas across hospital innovations and productivity, supply chain, length of stay reduction, post-merger integration, and corporate services. He led projects which varied between five and 36 staff and focused on between one and eight workstreams/service lines. While leading the PMO and corporate service line function for one of his clients, he took on the role of Director of finance for six months to revamp labor productivity and financial reporting for the system.
Prior to joining Navigant Alexander spent three years focused on payor strategy, Health Benefit Ratio/Medical Loss Ratio (HBR/MLR) reduction/improvement, utilization management, authorization guidelines, and developing provider networks for multiple health plans and before that four years focused on FP&A overseeing development and implementation of cost budgeting, regional & divisional P&Ls, standardization of financial reporting, managing payroll, time, expense approvals across a two-billion-dollar organization along with various financial performance improvement projects.
Alex received his Bachelor of Science from Indiana University Bloomington (Kelley School of Business).
