Chartis Names Duane Reynolds Chief Health Equity Officer

Reynolds will spearhead Chartis’ commitment to addressing disparities in healthcare access, quality, and outcomes.

Chartis, a comprehensive healthcare advisory firm, has appointed Duane Reynolds as its Chief Health Equity Officer. In this newly created role, Reynolds will draw from his more than 20 years of healthcare executive experience to strategically advance the firm’s and clients’ approaches to addressing inequity in healthcare access, quality of care, consumer experience, and organizational bias.

“We are excited to have Duane as our Chief Health Equity Officer. Duane brings tremendous national leadership experience and expertise to Chartis as we work with our clients in pursuit of achieving greater equity and inclusion in healthcare,” said Chartis Chief Executive Officer Ken Graboys

“I am honored to serve as Chartis’ inaugural Chief Health Equity Officer, continuing the progress and commitment we have made as a firm,” said Reynolds. “In this new role, I will work to integrate health equity even more deeply across our portfolio of services, which, in turn, will help clients seamlessly incorporate health equity and belonging principles into their organizations.”

Reynolds will remain president of Chartis Just Health Collective (CJHC), an organization he founded in 2020 that is now a division of Chartis. CJHC provides strategic health equity and belonging advisory services to provider, payer, technology, and life sciences companies. Reynolds and his team help clients translate health equity aspirations into achievable strategic, operational, clinical, financial, and community-based initiatives.

Twice recognized by Modern Healthcare, Reynolds was named a Top Diversity Leader in Healthcare (2022) and recognized as an ‘Up and Comer’ (2018). Prior to joining Chartis, Reynolds served as the president and CEO of the American Hospital Association’s Institute for Diversity and Health Equity. He also served as the inaugural inclusion and diversity chief executive for The Advisory Board Company’s consulting business. His work earned the organization recognition as a 2017 and 2018 Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality by the Human Rights Campaign and resulted in material changes in the demographic makeup of its senior leadership team.

Reynolds has held operational leadership positions at other prominent organizations, including Johns Hopkins Medicine, Emory Healthcare, OhioHealth, and Optum, a UnitedHealth Group company.
