Meet Paige Ottmar, Senior Manager, Digital Transformation

Paige Ottmar is based in Chicago. She is an ultramarathoner and often wakes at 4:30 a.m. to get her run in. Paige is also a violinist and enjoys playing in community orchestras. She appreciates the great learning and training programs at Chartis that set staff up for success.

Why Chartis?

After getting a dual master’s degree in Public Health and Information Science, I knew I wanted to work in healthcare. I didn’t quite know what I wanted to do when I attended a Chartis campus event at UNC. I spoke to two people from Chartis, and they were extremely smart, and they cared so much about healthcare. It was a stark contrast to other firms I had interviewed with. After a few more conversations, I decided to join the firm, and I’m so happy with the choice I made.

After just three months at Chartis, I attended the firmwide retreat at Amelia Island. I am more of an introvert, and I was amazed at how friendly everyone was and how they went out of their way to reach out to me. These types of firmwide retreats and meetings — typically held in the fall and spring — have been a highlight for me.

Why Consulting?

Consulting wasn’t necessarily on my radar at first, although I knew I wanted to work in healthcare at the macro level. I’ve now been with Chartis for just about a year, and I have enjoyed the variety of projects and experiences that consulting offers. I work on three different engagements. I really like that my team trusts and empowers the junior members. I remember the sense of satisfaction I felt after receiving positive feedback on the first project I delivered.

We also receive great learning and training, including a three-day program for new colleagues called “Launch.” This program gave me the foundational tools for success right from the beginning.

Why Healthcare?

My dad is a radiologist, and one of my earliest memories is shadowing him around the hospital. I thought it was so interesting. I love the idea of helping people and have always been a helper, including a great experience participating in AmeriCorps.

With my current projects at Chartis, I do feel our work is improving healthcare, in partnership with the provider. We are giving actionable results to patients, more effective information to doctors to provide better medications and we’re improving research by helping to recruit patients for clinical trials.
