Sue Anderson

Partner

Sue Anderson is a Partner in Strategic Transformation. She has more than 20 years of healthcare management consulting experience advising hospitals, health systems, academic medical centers, and physician practices. Her work is concentrated in strategy development and service line strategic planning, partnership development, business planning, organization design, and programmatic development. 

Sue has a depth of experience in cardiovascular services and has created more than 25 cardiovascular service line strategic plans. In addition, she has written a number of articles on hospital and physician strategy and has presented on service line development at several national conferences including the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Healthcare Strategy Institute. 

Prior to joining Chartis, Sue worked as a Senior Manager with ECG Management Consultants, Inc. While at ECG, she spearheaded the cardiovascular governance and leadership survey initiative with Thomson Reuters and led the development of “Strategies for Superior Cardiovascular Service Line Performance,” a cardiovascular service line strategy and management book published by HealthLeaders Media. 

Sue holds a Master of Business Administration from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and Bachelor’s degrees in English and Finance from the University of Richmond.

Why did you pick Chartis? 

For me, what differentiates Chartis is its commitment to its mission and values, which comes through in how we do our work, how we interact with one another, and how we operate as a firm.  I was also incredibly impressed by the colleagues I would be working with, and I appreciated the opportunity to do strategic planning for some of the preeminent health systems in the country.

What has been your favorite project at Chartis and why?

I recently had the opportunity to partner with a community-based health system and an Academic Medical Center helping them create a strategic clinical program affiliation. Through this process, I had the chance to truly serve as an advisor to both organizations, get to know them on a professional and personal level, and help them forge an affiliation that would benefit both parties, and most importantly, the communities they serve. The plans developed are now being put in place, and it is rewarding to see them come to fruition.

What is something most people would be surprised to learn about you? 

I grew up on a farm on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.  The farm has been in the family for multiple generations, and the house I grew up in was built in 1780 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
