Nick Herro is an Principal with The Chartis Group and a leader in the firm’s Private Equity Advisory Practice and Payor Strategy Segment. He has ten years of management consulting experience working with leading healthcare organizations. His focus areas include private equity advisory, health plan strategy, and health system enterprise strategy.
Mr. Herro has worked with leading financial sponsors and their portfolio companies across several types of engagements, including commercial diligence for healthcare investments such as physician practices (PPMs), home care businesses, hospices, PACE programs, and other healthcare services businesses. He has worked with a national behavioral health services provider and other businesses on strategic exit planning. His experience also includes growth planning for national value-based primary care practices, national pharmacy business plan development for a HCBS provider, and hybrid delivery model development for a national LTSS company.
Mr. Herro also advises senior leadership at health plans and their Boards on strategic matters. Example engagements include: Enterprise strategy for a large non-profit health plan; strategic options assessment and subsequent transaction on behalf of the Board of a non-profit Blues plan; and the divestiture of targeted health plan assets to a joint venture.
Finally, Mr. Herro is a frequent author on subjects related to private equity, value-based care, and health plan growth. He publishes the annual “Medicare Advantage Competitive Enrollment Report” and other firm thought leadership in the space.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Herro worked at Guidehouse (formerly Navigant) in the Healthcare Strategy group, where he focused on payor strategy and value-based care.
Mr. Herro is currently pursuing his Master of Business Administration at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics (honors) and Finance from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse, where he graduated with highest honors.
