Michael Tsia Chartis GroupWhy did you join Chartis?
Management consulting was the focus of my job search upon graduation. What made The Chartis Group stand apart from other consulting firms was its people; interview after interview, I found myself speaking with exceptionally bright, thoughtful, and down-to-earth individuals with whom I could relate to on a different level than the folks at the other firms.

What keeps you at Chartis?
As I noted earlier, the people are outstanding. On top of that, professional development is deeply embedded in the culture – that’s what keeps me here. My managers work hard to ensure I have every opportunity to learn and grow – that’s simply ingrained in our culture; its second nature. I get the privilege to work alongside managing directors and partners on a daily basis, independently own relationships with VP and select C-suite level clients, and present my work at critical client meetings. I am learning a remarkable amount every day, and I would be hard pressed to find a more challenging and rewarding learning experience at this stage of my career.

How would you describe the culture at Chartis?
What does culture at Chartis mean to you?

To me, the culture at Chartis is about caring.

We care about each other; the health and happiness of our teammates is a priority. It’s trite, but it’s also true – we are a family, and we care about what is going on in each other’s lives. We know our teammates’ endearing quirks, their preferred work styles, and the friends and family members who are important in their lives. When a family member of mine got a serious illness, the partners went out of their way to accommodate my personal needs. That meant a lot to me, and it is just one token that shows how they are dedicated to a sustainable, balanced lifestyle.

We care about improving healthcare delivery in the world. All Chartis members share this passion, which helps us uniquely understand our clients’ challenges outside of just the financial bottom line. We are on the cusp of amazing transformation in our industry, and we have the privilege to serve the bellwethers on the leading edge. Collectively, we advance our mission each day.

How do we live out our culture on a week-to-week
or day-to-day basis?

In terms of culture, where the rubber hits the road is our project teams. Our teams are thoughtfully staffed, ensuring ample exposure with senior members of the firm. Projects start with an internal discussion on work styles, travel preferences, and personal commitments that help us understand what makes each of us most productive. Frequent collaborative team sessions push our analytic approaches and critical thinking. Of course, the project team isn’t the only way we experience the Chartis Esprit de Corps. Our all-firm meetings, internal firm team calls, and regional and city social events help us stay connected with other Chartis members and give us a chance to spend quality time with each other, furthering our relationships and work.
